Bombers Win Game – Stadium Retires

I had my hands on my crutches and did not stop to take a piece of the Stadium home with me.

I  had the good fortune to accompany Rueben Funk to the last Bomber game in Winnipeg Stadium yesterday. We had great seats in row 11 on the 45 yard line. It was a fine afternoon, at least until the wind came up in the 4th quarter. Though not the most exciting of games, and with stakes that couldn’t have been lower, I enjoyed myself watching Jovan Johnson who had a great game yesterday. Bombers defeated the Alouettes, sitting out many of their starters, 19 – 11. And yes one last stand at the infamous piss trough at half-time.

Good to see Kenny Ploen, one of my few childhood heroes when I was a boy, inducted into the Blue Bomber Hall of fame with Chris Walby and Milt Stegall. I got to meet Kenny when he was on the Board of Directors of Rainbow Stage for that brief hiccup of time I was General Manager.

Kenny Ploen in his heyday.
