Dad holds a piece of three-ply against the side of the brown and white Jersey cow. He hits the piece of wood with a hammer hard, and often, until the cow
unsteadily gets to her feet. Big Dave Mclean sings with a throat full of gravel and whiskey “You Gotta Move.” I lie on my side, breathing.
