100 Year-Old Man Deadly Not Recommended Reading

What started out as an interesting tall-tale ended up as nothing but a stinky pile of crap. Two million readers can be wrong! Falls apart faster than Ikea furniture. Actually much worse than Forrest Gump, Also crap. Instead read;Hundraåringen_som_klev_ut_genom_fönstret_och_försvann
in 1668, Grimmelshausens  Der abenteuerliche Simplicissimus, (avialable in English) Good Soldier Sviek by Yaroslav Hasek, (also available in English).  There’s something more recent and more interesting than Being There (Kozinski – actually Painted Bird his best), but I can’t for the life of me, remember it. Earle Birney’s Turvey a Canadian novel, grounded in WWII, is good too, and all three are funny. General’s Die in Bed, Canadian Hemingway sentences before Hemingway, not so much.

I haven’t read Gump, but as regards the movie, I hated every minute of it the first time I saw it. The second time, it dawned on me that this was black irony, darkest comedy. All of it. I liked it better then.
