My stay smack dab in the middle of the universe, in the Peace Garden, all along the 49th Parallel is coming to end. My last day “in person” as Writer-in-Residence is tomorrow from 11 until 3 in the IPG Interpretive Center unless appointments are made. I will continue to work with any writers that approach me before September 1st, electronically.
It’s a sky like this driving south on Number 10, alone, that makes me sing “Oh What A Beautiful Morning” a Rodgers and Hammerstein tune from Oklahoma that I saw at Rainbow Stage, even though there are clouds in the sky. The version I like best is sung by Ray Charles backed by the Count Basie Big Band. Listen.
One of the plays I enjoyed at the Globe Theatre was Bordertown Cafe. Of course there is one in Boissevain, with the added attraction of Chicken Delight. There are three different diners and restaurants with “chicken our specialty.” Bordertown Cafe is an award winning play, written by Kelly Rebar first published in 1978 and made into a movie in 1992.
And below we have a sunset over the IPG Interpretive Centre, which we view regularly from our porch.
