This section introduces my new book Always Breathe. Armin Wiebe describes it bestalways breathe by victor enns book cover “This blisteringly candid memoir is structured in alphabetical units consisting of poems, prose pieces, social media-like posts, and one-liners that take the reader into the horror of a deteriorating body and constant pain.” Armin was a high-school student of my parents , and we were in the same University of Manitoba advanced creative writing class led by Robert Kroetsch in 1978-79, along with Sandra Birdsell and Jake MacDonald. I can’t find anything to say now so I’m going to look for a quote. I’m going to look for something to say.
I had manuscript well underway in 2022, a new relationship too. Newly married, short a left leg below the knee, and suffering with serious osteoarthritis being treated with pain meds and meditation. We seemed to have it well in hand when my GP that had been enticed to come trough BC, decided idea to return to Alberta. Without a GP I could not readily count on opioids. The public had turned against them, the doctors thought they had found an answer in working with “addictionists” using methadone, Ketamine and micro-dosing hallucinogens. The mainstream would not accept the continued use of opioids for pain management when so many young adults were soon addicted and dying of overdoses. Leaving me in the Lurch.I will write about this very next but I want to keep the offer brisk. Buy my books, it will do a lot of good. So this will be just a short fragment, I want the buy offer be up front right where yopu can see and click. We will send you a book. Or there are now two stores with the books, no wait, three Massy Books in Vancouver, Russell Books, accepted just this minute in Victoria, and starting its all Mosaic Books in Kelowna where I live.
